Two types of synthetic corundum
Synthetic sapphire
It has the exact same properties and chemical structure as naturally occurring sapphire. Hence, a strong magnification is usually required to distinguish between the two different stones.
Synthetic ruby
Synthetic ruby is the red variety of the mineral species, corundum. It's produced using the fusion method and the red colour is the result of traces of chromium.
Durability
Rated 9 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Synthetic ruby and synthetic sapphire are the hardest stones except for the diamond. This, combined with excellent toughness, makes them very durable and ideal for all types and styles of jewellery.
Love your stone!
Care for your synthetic stone by avoiding rough handling. When you're not wearing it, store it separately from your other pieces to avoid scratches. Clean it with lukewarm, soapy water and gentle brushing in circular motions.
